The Sermon on The Amount
In this message we're going to wrestle with a question that is as common among generous Christians as it is criticized by wary skeptics: How much of our money does God want us to give to the church?
If I promise to teach you the Bible's answer to that question to the best of my ability, without tweaking the truth in order to manipulate you, are you willing to learn with a open heart?
I hope so, because it's truth that can set you free.

How does that make you feel?
Maybe you're thinking, "It makes me feel like taking the next four Sundays off." I hear you. Money may be the most important subject that we don't want to hear about in church. But we need to, because the Bible tells us the truth about money (over 800 verses worth, actually), and the truth will set us free. Is that how feel about your finances right now? Free? Eternal Life: Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?
What is the most valuable gift you have ever been given? How would you feel if the gift was taken back?
Many Christians think that the gift of eternal life is something that the Lord gives and the Lord takes away, and they fear that they might have it one day and lose it the next. Is that possible? Can you lose your salvation?
In this message, we are going to put a magnifying glass on a passage of Scripture that clearly answers that question. It's not the only thing God has to say about this subject, but it may be the most important thing. I'm praying that the truth you hear will percolate in your mind and lodge in your heart.

When if Feels LIke God is Piling On
Does it ever feel to you like God is piling on?
When He allows us to experience multiple trials at the same time, it can drain our emotions, damage our relationships, age our bodies and break our spirits. So where in the Bible can we find support to bear up under the crush of multilayer suffering?

What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit? If you're familiar with that phrase, you probably have an opinion. And you're probably right. And wrong.
One of the things I love about the Bible is that it constantly yields new dimensions of truth so that we never stop growing.
